Visitor's vase - Sylvia Syms

When a VIP visited the Wedgwood factory, as part of the tour, they often participated in turning and decorating a black basalt beaker.

This example was made by the actress Sylvia Syms during her visit to the factory in 1956, and is autographed and dated by her on the base. Miss Syms recently played the Queen Mother in The Queen, with Helen Mirren in the title role.
