Covered jasper vase: Parthenon
In cobalt jasper dip, decorated with scenes taken from the Elgin Marbles.
The company of Adams of Tunstall was founded in the 18th century by an apprentice of Josiah Wedgwood. They made both basalt and jasper until about 1820; and again from C1880-1920. Their work was always very good; we have seen examples of their late work offered as 18th century.
Lid broken and reglued neatly.
