Coffee Cup, circa 1752: White sprigged cup with high footrim and double scroll handle. The body with applied prunus sprigs and painted on the outside with moths and insects, and on the inside painted with a scene of European buildings within a foliate cartouche, all in coloured enamels. H. 2.5 in (6.4 cm).

Provenance: Taylor Collection; with Parkside Antiques, Melbourne, the Reg Longden Collection, 1979; the D. A. MacAlister Collection.

Exhibited, Bow Special Exhibition, BM, 1959, #119.

The decoration on the cup appears to be, at least in part, later than the cup and probably the work of a gifted amateur.
