Fairyland Plate

Fairyland Lustre plate, decorated with pattern w558: Roc Centre, a pattern derived from the larger Imps on a Bridge; and Twyford Border around the edge.

While it is generally held that the imps are based on the American Kewpie Dolls, it must also be admitted that they bear a striking resemblance to the Gum-nut Babies, created by May Gibbs at around the same time.
