Mug, circa 1752-54: 

One and-a-half pint mug of baluster form with flared base and large strap-handle with heart-shaped terminal.  Painted after the Imari with an oriental garden with a five-stepped bridge, bamboos, chrysanthemums and other flowering plants issuing from rocks beneath a hatched border with reserves of stylized flowers and leaves, all in blue underglaze and overglaze iron-red and gilt. Heavily potted in a white porcelain body with a soft, even, grey-blue tinged glaze. Green-straw translucency. Base glazed. H. 5.8 in. (14.6 cm).
