Unusually large & fine example of the work of the well known decorator Bert Bentley. Clio, the muse of History, is reproduced with the exceptional detail and undercutting that has made his work so desirable.

Clio is the Greek muse of history, one of the nine daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne. In Greek mythology, the muses were the goddesses of the arts and sciences and were believed to inspire artists and scholars. Clio was the muse of history, and was often depicted holding a scroll or a book, symbolizing the written records of the past. As the muse of history, Clio was said to inspire poets, chroniclers, and other artists to create works that depicted the deeds of great men and women. Clio is also considered to be the patron of historical research, and was invoked by scholars and researchers as they delved into the past. In modern times, the term "Clio" is often used to refer to the study of history and historical research.

The blue background colour is quite rare.
