Tea Cup and Saucer, circa 1765-69: Pineapple moulded and painted in blue underglaze with cell borders and with central flower and leaf motifs to both cup and saucer; the cup with rococo handle. Slightly blue-tinged porcelain; even blued glaze. Dark straw translucency. Cup: H.1.8in (4.5 cm). Saucer: D.4.9 in (12.4 cm).

Provenance: Taylor Collection; the C. & H. Girton Collection, UK, 1999.

Tea and coffee wares of the same form and modelling, decorated in green and gilt, are also known.

Manners, Errol: ‘Some Continental Influences on English Porcelain’, ECC Transactions, Vol. 19, Part 3, 2007, pp 429-431, shows a Bow saucer, circa 1760, of gadrooned form, decorated in blue underglaze and its Saint Cloud original, circa 1740.
