Collection: Delftware

Until the invention of creamware, this was the most popular cheap imitation of porcelain. An earthenware body, with an opaque tin glaze to make it white. While most Delftware was plain white, this is now rare, as it was not looked after. Most examples that have come down to us today are decorated in cobalt, or polychrome. The body is soft, and edge-chips are expected.
