Kakiemon Tea Bowl & Saucer
A large octagonal tea-bowl, decorated in the Japanese style.
“The decoration is effective and pleasing, but does not seem to have been very frequently employed” – Mckenna.
Provenance: Frank Wheeldon Collection
The tea bowl is one-two years later than the saucer: possibly a marriage, but a happy one. The two were quite likely united at the factory, being drawn from the store of blanks for decoration when the service was ordered.
Restored rim chip to saucer.
