A very fine and early sampler by ‘Susannah Ourey in the 8 year of her Age And in the Year of Our Lord 1745’. The Ten commandments are finely wrought, and flanked by portraits of Moses and Aaron standing on diapered pedestals. A Seraph in the clouds surmounts the composition, typical of the period.
Silk on linen.
One or two minor holes. Excellent condition.
